Turkmenbashi Has Left the Building
You will be missed, but probably not so much by your loyal subjects.
I can't wait to watch the state funeral. And watch the sharks move in for the kill. I sense an colonization opportunity here.
Glad I got to see Turkmenistan "before it changed" and got my English copy of Rukhnama. Here's my Flickr Turkmenistan set. Don't go using those without a credit, k? And this is sort of an interesting article about a visit someone made there.
And if you want to see some of what Carpetblogger has to say about this, start here. If anyone wants to send Carpetblogger to live blog the funeral on the 24th, have your people call my people.

Well, you did say you were keen to move to a place that started with the letters T-U-R-K...
Last night as I drifted off to sleep c/o the dulcet tones of the BBC announcing T's demise, my last thoughts were 'surely Carpetblogger will have something to say about this'.
I also remembered this:

I don't know what you'll make of this, but my first thought when I heard about the death of Turkmenbashi was "I wonder what Carpetblogger has to say about this."
Combined with the above comment, I guess this makes you one of the interwebs premier authorities on Turkmenbashi. Congratulations???
