I don't know if you have noticed it, but there's very heavy police presence in the main square at Taksim. Some of them even wear uniforms. I'm not saying Taksim cannot be hit, I am saying that people there (not just cops but shopkeepers etc. too) are very aware that it might be a target. This, incidentally, is why there are no trash cans there.

Funny, Bulent, I just saw that on one of my favorite blogs (written by a Turk living in Ukraine) and passed it on to someone else to blog because I am too busy today to take on such a heavy subject.
