Booze in Kabul is difficult indeed, but succor can be found through the good orifices of the UN, particularly its most useful arm: UNODC. In Kabul, however, the UN guesthouse (the one with the pool, dunno which entity sponsors it) had a duty-free liquor store.

But in any case, you are correct: the Nalgene is mighty.
